OMS Counseling Department Program:
At OMS, we follow the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs.
The four components of this model are: Define, Manage, Deliver, and Assess. School counselors define their program using standards, manage the program with planning and focus, deliver the program through direct and indirect services, and assess the program to inform improvements.
The ASCA National Standards for student success identify 35 mindset and behavior standards, describing the attitudes, knowledge, and skills students should be able to demonstrate as a result of a school counseling program. These standards were developed based on a review of research and best practices to help students reach their highest potential.
These standards can be applied to the three domains covered by school counselors: academic, career, and social-emotional.
